Just finished this piece in memory of my sweet cousin, Dominic Ellis, who died earlier this year. Art for me is the best way to help the mourning pass. Pictured here in the arms of his beloved mum, Diana, from a photo taken about 1969. Our families lived reasonably close by and often vacationed together, the mums were sisters and their father, Big Grandad, would take us all away for a week in the summer holidays, to caravan sites, holiday camps on the Sussex or Kent coast and even to Spain one year, without our Dads. Those holidays were a lot of fun and full of sweet, crazy memories. I often babysat the Ellis boys as we were a little bit older. It is hard to believe Dominic is gone.
The title, ‘CAELESTIS OBSONATORES’, is latin for Heavenly Chefs, as they were both great cooks: food and Aunty Diana, being the heart of that part of my family. Dominic was also a talented drummer, artist, patient fisherman and historian and will be very missed.
RIP Dominic Ellis 1968-2017 and Diane Ellis 1939-2014
