Los Mutts de Mahahual, Mexico/The Mutts of Mahahual, Mexico was created as a part of the SKETCHBOOK PROJECT, at the BROOKLYN ART LIBRARY, NEW YORK. This sketchbook will be a part of VOLUME 16. I was sent the blank sketchbook by my daughter-n-law, Jenny Masefield as a lovely surprise gift. I took it on vacation to Mahahual, Yucatan, Mexico, close to the Belize border, with the intent of filling it. Instead I fell in love with the many dogs there, family pets and feral, that roamed the streets. Wanting a more graphic approach, than ‘just a sketch book’ I photographed, drafted ideas and sketched the dogs, making up narratives around their characters. Upon returning home to Virgin UT I created this book. It will be available to view in person at the Brooklyn Art Library, New York and will be a part of their digital on-line access after September 2020.
Many thanks for the Spanish translation by Cesar Eliub Del Billar Bacerra.

Originally my ABC Guild of Southern Utah (Assemblage, Book arts and Collage) were to have an exhibition during the month of May 2020. Due to the COVID 19 out break and ultimate shut down, it was cancelled. For that exhibition I had devised a 3-D cover of a dog, that folded flat around the book… here are photos of the prototype and in the final assemble of the book for New York I decided that the cover would be too delicate for public use, but here is what it looked like:
Thank you for your interest.
¡Hasta la vista!
